In Sweden, the equivalent of the French Blood Establishment has found a way to lower donations : send some text messages to thank the donors, the first time after the blood donation and the second time after the blood has been used.
This initiative has been going on for 3 years and is working well. It encourages the donor to return to donate blood and find a use for his action.
A donor took a photo of this post on June 8. His photo has been shared thousands of times on Twitter. It says, in Swedish : “Thank you! The blood you donated on May 26, 2015 just benefited a patient.”
If you donate blood in Sweden the county council will text you when your blood is used. pic.twitter.com/4Ycf5O6m3F
